Tra Vinh – In May 2023, SK Innovation's 2023 Mangrove Reforestation in Tra Vinh province was implemented with an area of 31 hectares across districts of Tra Vinh province such as Cau Ngang, Chau Thanh, Duyen Hai. In addition, the project area has been expanded to Vinh Long & Soc Trang provinces this year.
In 2023, SK Innovation maintains cooperation with United Way to authorize the implementation of the project for MangLub VN Social Enterprise. The year 2023 is highlighted by the focus on mangrove for shrimp farmers. With a total area of 22 hectares planted in Long Toan and Don Chau in Duyen Hai district, Tra Vinh province.
We jointly organized and participated in a mangrove planting day with the community to raise awareness and join hands to protect the environment. Specifically, on May 10 and August 29, 2023, SK Innovation staff had volunteer trips in Duyen Hai district. Recently, employees of two companies SK Innovation and SK Earthon together experienced planting mangrove trees in the shrimp pond of farmer Nguyen Thi Nguyet Nga in Long Khanh commune, Duyen Hai district on September 6, 2023.
Besides, we are always interested in raising awareness among the younger generation by reaching more students. Specifically, on August 29, 2023, SK Innovation staff had an exchange session with 100 students of Chu Van An Secondary School. Children learned about the importance of mangrove trees in Duyen Hai through the excellent presentation of Nguyen Thi Bich Tran, the SK Innovation’s 2022 Mangrove Ambassador, and also a 2nd grade student in Long Vinh. The activity was also a great time for all students to learn more about mangrove through the picture puzzle of mangrove story.
Mr. Kyoung Jun Kim – Vice president of SK Earthon Company in Southeast Asia, at the event Rooting for Resilience: Mangrove Restoration in the Mekong Delta Meeting, on September 5, 2023 shared: “The role of mangrove forests as a natural shield is emphasized more than ever. I think that planting mangrove forests together is the first starting point for us to find out suitbale measures to cope with climate change".
